About Me

"The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding." - Proverbs 4:7 (NIV)

About Me

Short Version: I am a data analyst who has a passion for data and the stories and understanding you get from it. With the amount of data that is now available at our fingertips, I believe in more open data platforms and open source software, which gives easier access to individuals to use data to solve problems at a local/city/state/country/world level.

Longer Version:

Working at Kaiser Permanente, based in the Hawaii region, I currently assist Kaiser's national decision support team in gathering data from the Hawaii region. I also work with the Hawaii region's financial department in gathering and analyzing data for reporting and implementing automation processes to assist in the department's workflow. My work can range from analyzing outside medical spending to creating automation processes to support in the creation of the region's budget reports.

I am a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, with Bachelor's degrees in Economics and Mathematics. I work primarily using tools such as SQL (Oracle, Teradata, etc.), R, Microsoft Access and Excel, Visual Studio (Visual Basic and C#) and Tableau.

When I'm not working on data related projects, I enjoy being outside: playing basketball, hiking, going to the beach, running and traveling (New Zealand is the most amazing place in the world). I also do a lot of Crossfit!

The main purpose of this website will hopefully be able to showcase data projects I've been working on and will be working on in the future. I hope to bring more insight about the world to more people and my hope is that someone might see my work and may be able to use that data to do some good in this world.
